Fenway Faithful

The day was crisp; and the time was right,
For the Red Sox and Yankees to have their last fight,
One team in red, the other in blue,
The home team knows what they must do,
To reach the playoffs, they must win,
Neither team is willing to give in.
The Sox fans are screaming,
The Yankees knew their fate,
Because David Ortiz walked up to the plate.
With one mighty swing the ball flew,
Into right field, toward row twenty two.
The game was over, and the Sox had won,
They ran around the field chanting,
“Playoffs here we come!”

The theme of this poem is that the Red Sox have more heart and are a better team than the Yankees. The mood of this poem is exciting, because it is the game deciding if the Red Sox can get into the playoffs or not. The rhythm I was looking for in this poem was smooth. What was significant about the subject is that the Red Sox are my favorite team. The diction in this piece will hopefully draw in the readers and wake them want to finish and enjoy my poem. In this poem a teenage boy who is a Red Sox fan is speaking. The attitude of the speaker seems to be praising and hating.. The form of this poem is freestyle which is the reason I wanted to write about it. This poetry has the rhyme scheme of a-a-b-b-c-c-d-e-e-f-f-g-h-i.
